Diane Morgan worked for twenty-two years as a business manager for a major defense company until June 1998. At that time the company offered an early retirement package with two days to make her decision. This came at a time when pre mid-life crisis was setting in and Diane’s heart and soul was searching for inner peace and knew that the corporate world was not her true calling. After an excruciating weekend of debate, she and her husband Wayne decided to give Diane the chance to start her own business. Hence, the birth of Morgan Mailboxes & More.
Diane is a member of the National Society of Decorative Painters and had been the elected secretary for The White Mountain Decorative Painters Guild for 2001 and 2002. She has since been elected Vice President for the year 2003 and President for the year 2004.
Her love of traditional painting shows in her quality and her attention to detail. Her favorite medium is acrylics though she still enjoys watercolor painting and the amazing results of colored pencil. She’s dabbling with pastels and oils but is always drawn back to acrylics. She is self taught but is constantly taking painting classes, seminars and attends Society of Decorative Painters painting conventions whenever possible to learn more and new techniques.
Her first love and passion has been sewing. In 2006, she reintroduced Classic Country Quilts where she is featuring her machine and embroidered quilted items. Her mailbox business is so successful that sewing takes a back seat but she sews when she can steal a little time.
In 2003, Diane's husband Wayne became the other half of this ma and pa small business. His web site offers manufactured mailboxes, mailbox posts, USA folk artist's mailboxes and more. He has become a preferred distributor for many home and garden accent companies. Check out Morgan Home Accents.
Diane and Wayne are working full time out of their home studio in Tewksbury, MA. Their helpers include one Sheltie dog, 4 cats, 2 talking parrots, and 2 fish tanks.
